Summary

Amer stars in a new Netflix comedy about his life called Mo. His family is Palestinian, and fled the first Gulf War, so Amer grew up in Houston from age nine. "Palestinian culture is a folksy farmer kind of mentality and life," Amer says. "And when I came to Texas, one of the things that was really attractive to me was the country music, the folksy music, the storytelling tradition of that." Amer also has two Netflix comedy specials, and co-starred in the Hulu series Ramy.

Also, Kevin Whitehead reviews the new album from jazz drummer Billy Drummond's quartet.

Thank you for having me. I gotta tell you, I struggled a little bit when I was writing your

introduction because I feel like if I describe you as Palestinian, that doesn't quite capture the

Mo Amher IC in your stuff. You kind of have more than one identity, don't you?

1:55.6

That's really interesting. You say that. I mean, I definitely identify as Palestinian American,

but I, you know, it's one of those things that as a refugee, as I lead America,

someone is trying to fit in and feel like I have some kind of sense of belonging. You kind of
