While in Latter-day Saint Doctrine, the consequences of the fall, they do include some conditions of morality, but they're not punishments.

0:08.4

Adam and Eve, and their children of all generations, are invited into a covenant relationship with Heavenly Father as a result of the fall.

Instead of being given a curse, the restoration teaches us, we're not being given a

0:22.5

curse. We're being offered a covenant. Opposed to God being hateful towards humanity for their

0:27.7

original sin, he opens up a path for us. Hello and welcome back to Fairs Come Follow Me Old Testament year. We are on week four of the Come Follow Me manual, and we are talking about the fall of Adam and Eve. I think it's one of the most intriguing beliefs that Latter-day Saints hold is really, really different than the beliefs

0:55.9

that the rest of the Christian world hold about the fall, what it means, all of its implications.

I'm excited to get into all of this with you. Some of you certainly are familiar with my own

1:35.2

the restoration. The entire reason I'm doing this is because if you're unfamiliar with the

1:40.6

alternative with what is sort of the normal mainstream teaching about the fall,

1:46.2

you might not even understand how incredibly amazing and wonderful and comforting and hopeful

1:53.0

and good. Our version of the fall is and what it means that this has truly been restored to us,

1:59.4

and it's incredibly good news. For most of my life,

2:02.5

I lived with an understanding of what the fall was and what it meant that really is not all that

2:06.5

hopeful, and it's kind of depressing and sad, to be honest. You make the best of it. And when I began

2:12.7

to understand the Latter-day Saint understanding of the fall, it really, really, really intrigued me.

2:18.4

So I'm delighted to talk about that.
