Turning the hearts of the fathers to the children and the children to the fathers is one of the most important works in mortality. It has been the burden of the ages and is especially critical in the Dispensation of the Fulness of Times. This scripture is mentioned in the Old Testament (Mal. 4:5:6); the New Testament (Luke 1:17); The Book of Mormon (3 Nephi 25:5,6), The Doctrine and Covenants (see Section 2) and the Pearl of Great Price (JS History 1: 38,39). We think the Lord is trying to get our attention. Come this week and explore the promises of tithing and the joy of family history work.

0:28.2	This is a book that matters so much to us as members of the Church because it's really
0:32.9	important to our doctor and it has incredibly important things to say to us, so we're excited
0:38.0	to explore it today.
0:39.8	And we have with us Paul Nada, who's going to help us and be with us a little later in

0:47.2	And he is the marketing and communications and PR manager for Family Search.
0:53.4	So among the things he does, of course, it works intimately with Roots Tech, which is the
0:58.9	most grand gathering of family history lovers in the world, and so it'll be so fun to
1:06.2	talk to him about what's happening in Family Search.
1:10.8	So Scott, this is a chapter we love.
1:14.3	This is, and as we begin in Malachi, we have lots of interesting things in the first two
1:20.5	chapters, but in the third chapter we get to something that we're all very familiar
1:24.1	with, and that is about the law of tithing.
1:28.6	And the entire book of Malachi is only 55 verses.
1:31.8	It's a very small book, and the name Malachi means messenger or my messenger, and it is
1:39.6	really packed with teachings and doctrine and messages.
1:44.7	So I want to share with you listeners a story from my life that means a lot to me about
1:50.5	tithing, as we begin here, because this is where I received my witness of tithing.
1:57.7	Three months after I was baptized, a frightening and very real challenge came to my fledgling
2:04.2	faith and my new membership in the church, and I shall never forget it.
