So as we start today's block of Scripture, the amazing thing to look at from a big picture perspective is that we're now coming down to the

end of the Jaredite civilization. So as you look at this book of Mormon, Mormon gave us the

terrible conclusion to the Nephite people in his book. Now, Maroni adds a second witness

to what happens to an entire group of people who are quite frankly really good at the beginning,

and they go through these cycles of pride, but what happens to them when they continually

reject God's prophets, and they reject the inspiration that comes from the Holy Ghost, and they

don't exercise their faith? What happens? You get a second witness in this book of two nations

being destroyed. So it's a book of not just second witness, but contrasts

and comparisons within itself. You get later on in the lesson we're going to talk about

Shiz and Cori Antimer, you get ether with the leadership of the people contrasted, the prophet versus what's going on with the government

leaders at the time. And as we jump into chapter 12, you're going to see some contrasts

between Moroni and the brother of Jared, and we'll talk about those in a minute, so hold

that thought. But he

begins in chapter 12, verse 1, where he says, it came to pass the days of ether, we're in the

days of Coriantimer, and Coriantimer was king over all the land. So now we've made it down
