As we begin this guided prayer experience, I want you to sit back, relax, and allow yourself

these moments to connect with your creator.

Luke chapter 15, Jesus tells us about a lost son.

And in this parable, this lost son is simply a boy who leaves his father in pursuit of selfish living.

I don't know about you, but I can relate to wanting selfish desires and even to go as far as to

pursue those selfish desires.

Oftentimes we hear this parable and we consider people who've left the faith altogether

or decided they're going to do their own thing for an extended period.

We call them prodigal sons or daughters.

But the reality is this parable speaks to you and to me alike. Any time, any moment, we desire and pursue selfish things.

We are acting like the lost son in Luke 15. But the good news is, Jesus, a picture of the Father in this very story, is always waiting

and ready to embrace us when we recognize and acknowledge our selfish desires and selfish pursuits.

So with this in mind, as we begin this guided prayer time,

would you take 30 seconds now and thank God for being a father

who is ready and waiting for you to return back to him?

...you know. Next, I want us to take a moment and think of maybe a selfish desire we have.

Not all desires for ourselves are bad or evil or wrong, but sometimes we can

pinpoint. You know, that's been a selfish desire of mine. Doesn't really align with what God is

calling me to. It's just something I want. Maybe it's not even a good desire, but you feel it creeping in at times.

Surrender that selfish desire to Jesus today.
