So I know that things are dark right now, and I know that all over the world there's a level of

pain and uncertainty setting in for the long haul because this crisis just seems to be rolling

on and on and over and over again with the news stories and with how it is impacting each one

of us individually. I just want to remind you at

the very beginning of this sermon that the power of our God is disproportionately higher than the

power of this world and the powers of darkness. You know when light and darkness collide,

there is no competition there. The light

exposes and invades darkness without asking for permission. And I love that Matt went into

that song, Sovereign over us, because it's the reminder that not only does God allow for certain

things to happen in our world, even in the midst of pain and even in the

midst of suffering, there is not one moment that you and I take a breath and our heavenly

father loses control for an instant. So I know things are chaotic. I know things are all over

the place right now, but I just want to remind you that the power of our God is greater,

and the power of our God is greater in our

own lives. I know if you're anything like me, there's a lot of days right now where you feel

distant from God. There's a lot of days where you feel a little bit unproductive and like you're doing

the same thing over and over and over again. But I just want to remind you that one moment, one

encounter with Jesus can supernaturally

shift everything about your day and your life. That's not like spiritual hype. That's not like me

saying something that I hope pumps you up for the beginning of this sermon. That's legitimate

biblical truth. Every time Jesus speaks into a situation, everything changes. And so if you're having a

bad day today, if you're having a bad week, maybe you feel like you're just having a terrible year.
