Summary

Every day, we take off our pajamas and put on our clothes for the day. Using this analogy, the Bible also tells us that we need to not only prepare ourselves physically but also spiritually each day, by putting on the character of Christ. Because, as we go out into the culture we are to bring the Kingdom of God. The Christian life is to be lived Kingdom down not culture up. This theme dominates the entire second half of Paul’s letter to the Colossians as we learn to live from our Kingdom identity, experience maturity, and worship wholeheartedly. The exploring of these massive themes in great detail in this soul-satisfying, mind informing, and destiny-altering section of God’s Word help us to enjoy our relationships starting with God.

0:09.6	It's an amazing book of the New Testament where the Apostle Paul is writing from prison
0:15.6	to newly planted church and we took a few months here at the Trinity Church to go verse

0:22.4	I've had the honor of preaching and teaching, perhaps a few dozen books of the Bible in
0:26.6	my career and this is the first time I've ever been through Colossians and I'm really excited
0:31.6	that you can join me.
0:34.8	Well every day we wake up and evening is concluded, day begins, so what do we do?
0:39.1	We take off our pajamas, we put on our clothes and we make that transition from what was to
0:45.5	what is.
0:46.5	And thank you for doing that by the way.
0:49.7	What we understand is that once we are done with that particular season or time, transition
0:56.6	requires a change of clothing.
0:58.6	And so Paul, he's the author of this book to the Colossians today in this section of scripture.
1:04.2	He's going to use this cross-cultural kind of universal experience.
1:08.2	People wake up every day, take their pajamas off, put their clothes on and what he's saying
1:11.9	is as we dress our body every day, we also need to prepare our soul.
1:17.5	We need to dress it in the character of Christ.
1:20.0	And what he's going to use is this analogy of put off your old way of life before you
1:25.0	knew Jesus, put on your new way of life once you meet Jesus, put off earthly ways of doing
1:31.5	things, put on heavenly ways of doing things.
