Summary

In 1922 officials from seven states agreed on the Colorado River Compact. This agreement would decide how water was distributed across the states that the Colorado River ran through. Today, this compact is the reason for severe drought and an apocalyptic scenario that is coming quickly to the southwest. At the time, the officials thought they fairly distributed water rights among constituents, which would have been true if the math were correct. But the numbers were terribly off, and the states are now drawing more acre-feet of water than the River can reasonably sustain. Water continues to be used frivolously even though we know that there is not nearly enough water for this level of consumption. If something doesn't change soon, there might actually be no water to go around. Things I Learned Last Night is an educational comedy podcast where best friends Jaron Myers and Tim Stone talk about random topics and have fun all along the way.
