Sure, color my world, but let's get it right.

0:11.5

Hey everybody, I'm Kelly Wilkins here with Anita Joyce, and this is decorating tips and tricks.

0:17.2

Today we're discussing color theory and how to use it. So let's start off with what is

0:23.7

color theory. It derives from the color wheel science behind which colors go well together and the

0:31.0

art of putting them together well. So if you don't think science is involved in the color

0:36.9

wheel, it has been attributed to Sir Isaac Newton.

0:40.6

And artists and designers learn about the color wheel to create a framework or a foundation for their work.

We're going to link to the color wheel or at least a website where you can see the color wheel

0:59.9

because I think that would be helpful when you're listening to this episode or thereafter

to come up over and over again. So it would be good to get a visual on that and see what

1:21.0

colors are across from each other, what colors are close to each other, how the colors change

1:27.3

with tint and use. All of that is really interesting,

1:30.8

and I think it will help you not only to absorb and get the most out of this episode, but also

1:36.4

going forward when you're choosing colors for your own home. So the interesting thing is there's

1:41.7

something called color therapy, or it's also called

1:44.9

chromotherapy, and this was practiced by the ancient Egyptians, which is so fascinating

1:51.7

that this concept has been around for quite a while, and they used color to heal.

1:57.1

Now, was it effective?
