There's a popular culture within the church where we ride waves that are nothing more than fads and phases.

But there are some things that are eternally true.

And when we get done exploring the fads and the phases, we'll have to come back to the real foundation of who we are in God.

And one of those foundations is the sacraments.

The sacraments, we talk about communion and sacred, simply meaning sacred to the Lord,

doctrines that are immovable, the doctrine of baptism, the doctrine and the sacrament of communion,

the laying on of hands that we have really steered away from in the church.

If we really believed the Bible when it said, if there be any sick among you, call for the elders of the church anoint them with oil and pray the prayer of faith that saved the sick, how many church service do you think we could get through without having the elders come anoint people with oil and pray for the sick? We don't believe these things or we would apply these things. I believe some of the reasons that we don't believe these things is because we don't have

men or voices in pulpits today that are teaching us the power of what is available.

We have moved out of impartation.

We've moved into entertainment.

And the consequence of that is we've got a bunch of people that are not being equipped.

They're just being stimulated. And so today I'm going to give you some things that I believe God's going to use

to help equip you. And the difficult thing about equipping people is you've got to get them, first

of all, to snap out of entertainment mode. And I will purposefully in teachings like this do everything that I can to get rid of every

piece of entertainment.

I don't want this to affect your soul today.

I want to talk spirit to spirit to you about one of the most powerful things that is

available in the church, and it is the doctrine of baptism.

And I'm going to minister to you from the subject this morning, the cross, a watery grave.

And I'm going to do the best that I can, by the help of the Holy Spirit, to show you the connection between water baptism and the cross.
