After adjusting for inflation,

according to the think tank education data initiative, college tuitions have increased since 1963 by 747.8%. It should be noted that there are marginal differences in the number

depending on the studies

used, but the pronounced increase in college tuition costs is in fact not in dispute.

Key fact number two.

The quantifiable effects of grants, scholarships, and subsidies on the costs of college tuition.

The College Board states that $240.7 billion in federal aid was issued to students

for the 2022 and 2023 school years alone.

This averages out to approximately $15,480 per undergrad

or $28,300 per grad student.

And as subsidies for higher education have increased, so too did the demand for college,

which of course has resulted in higher tuition costs.

According to a study by the New York Federal Reserve, for every $1 in subsidies that a college

receives, they increase

the costs by 65 cents.
