Welcome to Andy Staples on three. It is a Tuesday and have you named your starting quarterback yet?

Because if you haven't, you're probably behind. It is that week. This is the week when

coaches who have been holding out on naming a starting quarterback, even when we were pretty sure

we knew who it was or if we were not sure we knew who it was, or if we were not sure we knew who

it was.

This is when they start saying, yep, we're transitioning into game week.

This is our starting quarterback.

On Monday, USC coach Lincoln Riley named Miller Moss, his starting quarterback.

This was an interesting one because Miller Moss looked fantastic in the bowl game,

but Lincoln Riley then went out and brought in a quarterback from the transfer portal,

Jaden Mayava, who had been at UNLV last year, who was great as a freshman at UNLV last year.

But it still seemed like Miller Moss was going to be the guy.

They bring Miller Moss to Big Ten Media Days.

It just felt like he had command of the offense, respect to the teammates, all that good stuff.

Now we get the official word Miller Moss is USC starting quarterback.

It's an interesting story with Miller Moss because we've talked about this,

how rare it is that the quarterbacks just stay.

And sometimes if you just stay,

you have a better chance of being the guy as long as you are still making progress.

I mean, there's situations where guys just aren't making progress.

Like, a guy we're going to talk about in a second, Malachi Nelson, who was a signie at
