If you were born into a college football-loving family, you remember the stories your grandfather or father used to tell you about your

favorite team's most memorable games in the good old days. For me, it was punt-bama punt,

and my grandson will hear about the kick six and the prayer in Jordan hair, and every team has them,

and that is exactly what the game against Texas means for Texas A&M fans this weekend.

And the 93 Cotton Bowl was big, so was the Sugar Bowl in 1940.

But if we're being honest, this is the most generational game that A&M has played in my lifetime.

Just look at what's at stake.

First off, you're playing against a huge rival in Texas, finally, after a long hiatus. You have a

chance to clinch your first ever SEC championship game birth. You also have an opportunity to

clinch your first ever college football playoff berth if you went out, including the SEC

championship, and you get to do it at home in your backyard. If you lose, it relegates you back to the

butt of the joke at 8 and 4. Even though we all know Mike Elko is building this thing the last,

he's doing it the right way, A&M is just getting started. But just by appearing in the SEC

championship game, you get somewhat of a monkey off your back,

and it shows future recruits that you can actually get there.

It's a huge game for Texas, but they've been more relevant in the championship space more recently.
