If we are going to be totally honest, most people are going to take the side of what is most advantageous to their team.

If you're a South Carolina fan, you will say it's about who is playing better right now. And

South Carolina is playing fantastic. If you're in the Bama or Ole Miss Camp, you're going to be

screaming that head-to- head should be the deciding factor.

And I get it. You've got to stick up for your school. I would love to sit up here and say that Bama shouldn't get in compared to the other two.

But my job is not to be a Bama hater. It's to be a realist and go with what I believe is right in the situation, regardless of personal

fandom. Every game in the regular season should count. It's the whole body of work, and that body

of work has left us with three SEC teams that are tied in nine and three. The strength of schedule

is somewhat similar between them. So just like in all of the conference standing

rules, what is the first tiebreaker? It is head to head because it is the purest form of finding out

who moves on in a tiebreaker scenario because it's settled on the field between the parties.

It's actually a lucky break for the committee because it

pretty much takes the heat off them. It gives them an out and it kind of works itself out. If we can't

use head to head, which in my opinion is the greatest form of meritocracy, then why even play the

games? If you don't want to count the first half of the season, then why play 12 games at all?
