Hi everyone it's 4 o'clock in New York as we begin MS NBC's special coverage of

Super Tuesday millions are headed to the polls in 16 states for what is the biggest day of voting.

There's an election day, of course, a moment after which Americans want to face the fact that this is,

in the words of a dear friend of this show,

the, do you want to have any more election's election?

Where voters are not just choosing between two candidates,

but are making critical decisions

about the very basic fundamentals of our democracy.

If the polling and the results from the last few 2024 primaries show us anything,

they show us that Donald Trump will defeat Nicky Haley by significant margins and

Super Tuesday will perhaps mark just days away from Trump clinching the Republican

nomination officially.

That means today will, if nothing else, crystallize the choice

Americans face in November.

Now just between two presidents, current one former one president who has an agenda

that commands broad public support whose commitment to our democracy and our institutions has never been in doubt.

But he was dogged by some lackluster polling

that doesn't match up with support for his policies.

And the other, well, you know the other, that four times indicted twice impeached ex-president who currently faces 91 felony counts in four jurisdictions, someone who's been found liable for sexual abuse, who is set to pay hundreds

of millions of dollars in penalties for years of financial fraud, who also makes no bones

about his specific and concrete plans to rule as an autocrat,

a quote dictator on day one if he's reelected and whose tenure in office was marked by an endless series of low points, not just for the presidency, but for the country.
