When your mom dropped you off, can you just describe how that exchange went?

Very emotional.

She's very upset. I knew something was off that night.

Everything it was supposed to change for Melissa Missy Howard on January 6th of 2006, and it did, only not in the

wave she may have anticipated.

After a vicious and highly contentious custody battle,

the Crestview Florida resident was supposed to assume full guardianship over her son that day and her boyfriend

had been dropping hints that he was ready to take their relationship to a new level.

From the outside looking in it seemed as if things were going great for Missy, but privately

she was struggling with fear and anxiety.

Acquaintances who had dropped by her home threatened and intimidated her.

There were also cars that would park outside the house or follow her, as if they were actively

surveilling her.

As good as everything was going, Missy had plenty of reason to believe

it could all easily take a turn for the worst.

And then on January 6th, her whole life changed and came to a violent end. At first, Chris Cadenhead may not have noticed anything unusual the evening of January 6, 2006.

That night, as he had many times before, he was going to visit his girlfriend, Melissa Howard, at her home in Crestview, Florida.

And also, like all of those other times, Chris's wife didn't know what he was up to.
