Summary

Pamela Cahanes, a recent Naval recruit graduate was discovered dead in Florida in 1984. Her case went cold for over 3 decades, but with the help of genetic genealogy, Pamela’s case was solved. When the perpetrator’s DNA was put into the National Database, it hit on another unsolved murder. That of Kathy Hicks in Hawaii. Perpetrator Thomas Garner, a Navy sailor at the time of Pamela and Kathy’s murder stood trial for both murders. But the results were vastly different. Pamela J. Cajanes was born on August 25, 1958. Pamela grew up on a dairy farm in Stillwater, Minnesota.

She joined the Navy when she was 25 years old and had just finished her initial Navy training when her life was cut short.

On August 5, 1984, Seminole County deputies responded to Riverview Avenue in Sanford, Florida. This is north of Orlando.

They were called there when the body of a woman was found laying on the side of the road.

The body wasn't hidden behind a tree or anything. She was just out in the open.

The woman was partially dressed and her clothes were found near the body.
