Colonel Guerra was the commanding officer of the First engineer combat battalion of the first infantry division.

He led the battalion from the 1944 Normandy landings through May of 1945.

He served from North Africa to Omaha Beach in the Battle of the Bulge.

Through ROTC, I graduated from New York University, College of Engineering, in May of 1940.
