Summary

Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell and attorney Eric Bland thought they would never read anything quite as horrible as the descriptions of Child Sexual Assault Material contained in former South Carolina Rep. RJ May’s court records. But they were wrong. On Monday, the United States Government filed a brief arguing that Charleston County Judge — and South Carolina’s latest elected official accused of being a pedophile — James B. “Skip” Gosnell should be kept behind bars until his trial because he is not only one count of possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material. 0:09.0	On Monday morning, the U.S. government filed a brief arguing why accused pedophile, a new one,

0:23.6	a magistrate judge for Charleston County, albeit a suspended one. So that's terrific. Judge Gosnell

0:40.3	This is the second time in the past three months that a South Carolina elected official has been arrested under federal child sex abuse material charges.
0:50.3	At the time of former State House Representative R.J. May's arrest in June, I thought I would never read anything.
0:58.4	As horrible as what I saw in the court records detailing the horrific abuse shown in the videos he allegedly distributed to hundreds of people online.
1:10.1	Well, I was wrong.
1:11.6	On Monday, right before the recording of this show,
1:14.6	Liz, Eric, and I read the government's filing in Gossnell's case,
1:19.6	and, there is no way any of us could have prepared for the evidence that the government says it has on Judge Gossnell.
1:29.3	In the brief, he stands accused of not only possessing CSAM, but corresponding with other alleged pedophiles,
1:37.3	offering to help them to get the lay of the alleged pedophile land, allegedly admitting and text messages to sexually assaulting a three-month-old
1:47.0	baby, who was left briefly in his care, allegedly admitting in text messages to taking
1:53.2	a selfie with a two-year-old child and texting it to an allegedly like-minded pedophile
1:58.8	friend saying that he had sexually assaulted the child,
2:03.2	calling the child his new little buddy and allegedly arranging a trip to Florida with his alleged
2:10.1	pedophile lover so the two could allegedly sexually assault the lover's nephew's newborn son.
2:17.4	Oh guys, it gets worse.
2:19.3	The government alleges that judge, again, he's still a judge, technically.
