A U.S. Federal Appeals Court halted Kalshese political prediction markets upon a CFTC request for an emergency stay.

The New York-based company went live with the which party will win the Senate and which party will win the House contracts on Thursday afternoon after a nearly year-long court battle with the regulator.

Trading on Kalshi's two new contracts was paused later at night,

with a notice on Kalshi's website citing a pending court process.

The CFTC argued that Kalshi wouldn't be harmed much

if the appeals court temporarily halted its contracts

while the public interest may be harmed more if the contracts continued.

ETORO has agreed to pay $1.5 million to settle SEC charges that it operated, an unregistered

broker, an unregistered clearing agency, facilitated trading in crypto assets that might be deemed securities.

The company will make only a limited set of crypto assets available for trading,

including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, and Ether. According to Itoro, which has roughly 240,000

accounts in the US, the practical effects of the settlement will be minimal for users.
