Bitcoin vying for $90,000 and a big upgrade is announced for Ethereum.

Bitcoin within touching distance of $90,000 in volatile trading during the European morning Tuesday

after recording its largest daily gain in history,

adding $8,400 on Veterans Day. Bitcoin falling below $86,000 during the New York market open Tuesday

as it counters resistance towards another milestone. Coinusk's Ankara Gaboli reporting that

Deribit listed BTC options at $90,000 and $100,000 strikes had been sold to dealers.

Amber Data saying the rally may lose steam if prices reach those levels, as market makers will likely trade against the market direction between that price range, thereby keeping prices range bound.

The surge in the last 24 hours has seen nearly $900 million of liquidations in crypto-tracked

futures, equally distributed between bullish and bearish bets at almost $450 million apiece,

according to coin glass data.

Notwithstanding the price swings, Bitcoin is around 5% higher over the last 24 hours,

outperforming the wider crypto market, which has risen just under 2%, as measured by the CoinDest 20 index.

On a more serious note, Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake

revealed his proposal for a major redesign of Ethereum's consensus layer called BeamChane,

a series of big-ticket upgrades to Ethereum's consensus layer into a single package. The changes

include adjustments to Ethereum's block production apparatus as well as how it handles staking and zero-knowledge cryptography.

Ethereum upgrades its core code roughly once per year. Drake proposes continuing to make incremental upgrades to the chain each year,

but then knocking out big changes like bean chains focus on Ethereum's consensus layer in one fell swoop a few

years from now.
