Well, hi, everybody. Welcome to Coffee Talk and what is actually the longest day of the year, the summer solstice. So happy summer. Happy little debrief coffee talk casual chat over the news because we had a lot of news this week.

And I thought it would just be worth it for a deep breath to kind of talk through some of what

we've seen online and some of the stories that we're watching to develop.

It is the longest day of the year.

It is the unofficial, official start to summer.

And because of that, we actually have some content planned.

And we usually hit this story when it comes up in July because drowning is a leading

cause of death for children.

And I'm mentioning this because have you ever gone down a rabbit hole from something that

you saw online?

And this morning, I did that.

So just this morning, I was looking, you know, reviewing the online. And this morning I did that. So just this

morning I was looking, you know, reviewing the news. And I saw this come up on X. This is from the

California Governor Gavin Newsom. Funny story. The very first political interview that I ever did

was with a supervisor in a district in San Francisco who was up and coming and his name was Gavin Newsom.

So I went on and interviewed him as a supervisor, then as mayor in San Francisco, and now obviously he's governor.

But that's, you know, when you're a young journalist, you're looking for all sorts of interviews, local interviews.

And so this is how I became acquainted with him. I haven't talked to him in many years,

but maybe he should come on smarter news. That would be an interesting interview. As we talk

about the future of politics in America. But I saw this, that he posted this online, and it ties

to summer and some of the stories that we're covering in this way. What he says here in this particular
