We're live. All right here with Cody Johnson. For our money, one of the best live shows

0:20.3

we've ever seen. So I wanted to ask you to start how difficult your ticket things back

0:27.6

now with touring and kind of getting it going again. But you basically had a year and

0:32.3

X amount of months of not being able to do what you do best, which is put on that live show

0:37.0

and connect with your fans. How challenging was this last year during COVID and not being able

0:42.0

to hit the road like you and the guys usually do? I think it was a very eye opening experience

0:48.7

in that. I got to take some steps back. Some steps back that I hadn't been able to take in

0:55.2

really 11 years. So again, the past five, six years have been, I mean, you guys know you've

1:00.5

been following this. Just go, go, go, go, go, go. I think you get used to stuff like that. You

1:06.3

get used to playing four shows in the Midwest and then flying to New York and doing three days

1:10.4

and flying to LA and you don't realize the mental stress and the physical stress you put yourself

1:16.0

under. But you know, when you're in that mode and you're providing for your fans and you're

1:21.0

providing for your family, you know, you're thankful for your job and you go to work. But

1:26.4

when it got taken away, I'll admit, I was mad. Like I was pretty pissed at the world.

1:33.8

And I had this, I had this thought in my head like when Houston Roeho got canceled, I was like,

1:38.8

we lost that money. We lost money. We lost money. And it took me about a week and I finally like

1:44.5

changed my whole perspective. I changed my entire perspective of, I didn't lose any money.

1:49.6

I just didn't get the opportunity to make that money. And God gave me the gift to be able to

1:54.7

sing and entertain and play and write. And he just said, hold on a little bit, you know, take a

2:00.1

deep breath and come out. And I didn't realize personally how much I needed to time out. You know,

2:06.2

I spent more time with my wife and kids than I ever had. How did the opportunity to really

2:10.9

go, okay, my identity is not Cody Johnson. I am a husband and a father, you know,
