After all the years of everything and everybody that we've met in this business, doing what we do, whatever,

my wife looks at me and goes, that's how I know you've made it.

It's like, oh, this does feel comfortable.

And then it gets to the point to where like when you ride the high of the show

and then you're coming down after that like two guys play two hours and I'm

jacked up, I don't want the high to end.

What do you do?

You start drinking and doing drugs.

I didn't.

I was so angry.

I was so mad when I wrote that song.

I was broke.

Me and my wife were barely getting by, she was pregnant with our first one who's about to be 15.

Yeah.

And I knew I didn't want to do the Nashville thing

and I couldn't compete with the Texas thing, man.
