Well, hey everybody and welcome to a special bonus episode of the Curie Newhoff Leadership

Podcast my name is Carrie Newhoff and I hope our time together today helps you lead

like never before. Well all week this week I am themed around communicating

because that's what I think leaders do.

You actually, you know, whether you preach like I do every weekend or whether you speak like

at conferences or whether actually you're just presenting at a boardroom

or you're trying to inspire your staff or you're trying to recruit volunteers or you know

maybe you're hosting something and you've got to do announcements.

Communication I think is inherently connected to leadership as my friend Jeff

Henderson often says leadership comes with a microphone and it just does. And a lot of us I mean you look at it the

number one fear apparently that people have is a public speaking honestly that has

never scared me I walked into a radio station when I was 16 years old and said

hire me and they were dumb enough to do it. Worked in radio for eight years. I

worked in law for well I did five years in law a lot of that was schooling and

training but I spent a year in downtown Toronto,

and I was in court almost every day and talk about having to learn to speak on your feet.

I mean, you better be ready. Those judges get angry if you're not prepared and so I learned that way and then I've been preaching for over 25 years
