My name is Carrie Newhoff and I have been looking forward to this for a long time and I hope

it's going to help you lead like never before and in an age of sound bites and social media status updates

sometimes done in all caps and people snapping at each other I hope this is

going to feel like an oasis to you. It is a long-awaited

interview that I did actually a couple months ago with Eugene Peterson and recently

had a chance to sit down with Mark Batterson and Adam Weber, both of whom have been previous

guests on this podcast and we'll link to their episodes in the show notes to talk about

Eugene's legacy. So this episode is 30 minutes with me and Eugene Peterson,

where I got to talk to him by telephone,

and then a round table with Mark Batterson and Adam Weber, both of whom are authors and both of whom have been deeply impacted by Eugene Peterson, Mark even having spent an afternoon with him.

So I thought it would be good to just talk about the legacy of Eugene and also, well, we get into all kinds of like amazing stuff, both in the interview with Eugene and then later in the little panel I did with Mark and with Adam and I hope you know those

of you who have been following what's going on it's been a rather unusual summer

for Eugene Peterson I was fortunate enough by the grace of

God to get an interview with him before he stopped doing interviews. There was an

incident I won't go into the details where he was widely quoted as saying something and then

had to issue a clarification or attraction the next day and I guess the whole thing

you know was upsetting enough that he just decided his public

ministry is over and he is no longer going to be doing interviews now I hope he
