chapter number 27 rather, and verses 10 and 11. We're going to look at close

friends compared to distant family. As I read the verses, you'll understand

what I mean. Verse 10 says, do not forsake your friend and your father's friend.

And do not go to your brother's house in the day of your calamity. Better is a

neighbor who is near than a brother who is far away. So do you see the point

Solomon is saying we all need to make sure for our own benefit at the very

least that wherever we live, we are establishing good, solid friendships with

people who live nearby. Notice what he says, don't forsake your friend or your
