Maria the bird submitted by Jesse. This is a story from my grandma so I'll try my best to tell it as well as I can.

My family are big believers of anything regarding the supernatural.

We come from a small closed-off town where everything gets talked about and gets around pretty fast.

This story took place before I was born, so early 90s.

My grandma had a friend named Marisole.

Marisole lived outside the town with her husband, son, daughter-in-law, and their newborn baby.

Marisole's friend Marilla came over to talk about the town gossip and had seen the newborn and asked if she could hold him.

Mariso declined and made an excuse for her not to.

At the time rumors would go around that Marilla was practicing witchcraft and had no good intentions.

It is believed that witches in Mexico need newborn blood for any kind of rituals.

Fast forward, night came and everyone went to bed early.

Around 1 a.m. the parents of the baby were sound asleep.

The only thing heard around the house was the baby's cry.

He cried and he cried. The grandma woke up and saw the baby crying.

She woke up the parents who insisted they couldn't hear anything.

Marisso realized that it was her friend Marilla doing something.

They turned on all the candles in the house, started burning sage, along with other herbs to make

the witch retreat till morning.

The morning came.

Mardi Sol asked her daughter-in-law to rush to her uncle and tell him everything that had

happened the previous night.

As soon as the son was up, she showed up at the uncle's house with her baby and explained
