For those that are unfamiliar with the Portis story, Portis was among three former NFL players

who pled guilty for their roles in a nationwide scheme

to defraud a health care program for retired NFL players. That per the U.S. Justice Department

yesterday. Portis, who's now 40 years old, faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. He's

scheduled to be sentenced on January 6th.

The alleged scheme targeted the Gene Upshaw NFL player health and reimbursement account plan,
