Summary

In the aftermath of Donna’s death, Jo returns home to Hutchinson to plan their mother’s funeral and clean up her mess one final time. As Jo and their sister Crystal sort through the detritus of the filthy, overstuffed apartment where Donna spent her final days, they come across strange artifacts, including letter from Jo’s childhood self. 0:36.5	the after effects of this abuse and in previous seasons we've talked a lot about investigations into medical child abuse and looking at evidence and looking at what children are going through when they're experiencing this abuse and this
0:57.2	has been our chance to really look at what it is like to survive this abuse. What does life look like after this abuse?
1:03.0	What does life look like after this was your childhood?
1:09.4	I think in some sense, both Joe and I knew that Donna's death was going to be this
1:17.8	ultimate hurdle that they were going to have to go through at some point.
1:23.5	And it was this looming thing that Donna would always have
1:26.9	these brushes with death and then survive them.
1:31.0	And so it was just sort of this cycle and that when that cycle finally ended it might be freeing on some sense but in the immediate
1:39.2	Aftermath it was really gonna bring all of these things that have been building up in Joe their entire life.
1:47.2	It was going to bring them right to the surface.
1:50.6	I think this has really given us an opportunity to get away from thinking about, oh, it's this many surgeries and it's this many lies and it's just sort of this laundry list of horrible things that happened to a child and
2:05.0	obviously whenever I'm covering these cases I try not to cover them in that way I really
2:09.2	try and focus on the humanity of all of the people involved. And I think you don't see how this affects someone
2:15.4	on a human level until they are out of it,
