0:24.2	of Kentucky. Senator, thanks for calling in. Absolutely, thanks for having me, Buck.
0:29.1	So what are you trying to get to the bottom of here with these hearings with Gain of Function
0:34.8	Research? What should the American people know about this and why are we digging deeper into it?
0:41.9	You know, a million Americans died. 6.4 million people died around the world.
0:47.0	And I'm actually just shocked that the other side and many on the Democrat side are not curious
0:52.1	at all. Wouldn't we all want to know if there's a chance? Even a chance that this came from the lab,
0:57.5	wouldn't we want to know? Wouldn't we want more oversight on the kind of research that creates
1:02.6	novel viruses that increase their transmissibility or increase their lethality? I don't understand
1:08.9	why anybody wouldn't want to know, but we had yesterday the first hearing ever on Gain of Function.
1:14.7	Gain of Function is when you take a virus of known lethality and then you try to make it more
1:20.8	infectious or more lethal. Well, this is the research that was going on in Wuhan, China, and we were
1:26.3	funding. When Dr. Fauci was asked directly about it, he says, oh no, we're not doing that.
1:31.6	But we had three scientists yesterday, including a scientist who's the leading advocate for better
1:36.5	oversight of this, who's been talking about this since 2004. He testified yesterday that what Dr.
1:43.7	Fauci said was foul faults, that they were doing of Gain of Function Research. It was funded by the
1:48.9	NIH. And interestingly, Dr. Fauci's claim that his people have reviewed it and found it not to
1:55.3	be Gain of Function was not true either. There's a committee, a pandemic committee that oversees
2:01.5	these viruses and if they're supposed to be dangerous or can cause a pandemic, they never review
