So we've done a few episodes over the years on peasants, and I wanted to revisit these

older episodes and put them back out there for you to listen to.

Hopefully you enjoyed our rebroadcast on peasants and the medieval countryside back at the

end of October.

In this episode, we're going to continue to look at peasants in common folk and see how

their changing circumstances led to major revolts and rebellions in the later Middle Ages.

A hundred voices speaking at once hung in the summer air, melting a touch of menace with

the oppressive humidity.

One of those voices resolved into something clearer.

We're not paying any more taxes.

Dozens of peasants crowded around a table where a single man was seated.

The peasants all looked at him with anticipation after this.

An account book sat in front of the man.

The pen he held in his hand quivered just the tiniest bit.

No one noticed a single drop of ink falling onto the crisp parchment page.

The man wore a scarlet velvet jerk, an expensive piece of fancy clothing.

The contrasted with the plain bullets stained with sweat and dirt that the peasants wore.
