I really enjoyed hosting this one back in September 2010 when I was joined for the first time

by famed physicist and now a Nobel Prize winner, Sir Roger Penrose.

He was joined by scientist, theologian, Alistair McGraft to debate the recent book by Stephen

Hawking's had been causing the stir at the time, the grand design, and what it had to

say about God, the universe and much more.

Roger tell us a little bit about your background because I don't know that you particularly

have any faith of any kind, but your passion has always been science.

When did that begin?

Well I had a father who was a scientist, he was a professor of human genetics at University

College London and that was more on the biological side.

His family came from completely non-scientific background, he was a quaker.

His family was quaker, he was really more of an atheist actually, but he was very much

held to quaker values and that sort of thing and that was quite strong with him.

I was brought up without any religious background, certainly scientific, both my parents, my mother

was medically trained and she also was not religious, although I don't think her parents were

as far as I'm aware, her mother was actually an anti-Semitic Jew.

He's been in Christ's head for many years.
