Welcome along gentlemen, it's great to have you both on. Not so long since you were

both actually on the program before I think back in September, Iish Alistair we had you

on talking about Hawking and his claims that God has been made redundant as a cause of

the universe and also actually in conversation this was before the book had been finalised

but on the new atheism with Casper Melville of New Humanist magazine.

Great to have you back thanks for joining us again and Stephen you were on not so long

to go yourself in conversation with Alvin Plantinger. Yes it was good for you. I hope we

can do something again in that sort of realm but today we're talking about the new atheism

which is a term coined really to if you like describe a particular brand let's say of

atheism perhaps a more militant more aggressive form of atheism emerged with obviously the publications

of people like Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens. Alistair you've been a key respondent

to the new atheism tell us though five years on let's say from when the God delusion

was published where do we stand now do you feel like the movement is still growing is

it waning what do you feel? I don't know whether movement is growing

or waning what I know is the questions are still there they're still being talked about

...
