as he talks about being a drift at sea for 47 days.

You were out on your life raft and you saw an aircraft approaching.

You were hoping it might be a friendly aircraft,

but it was Japanese and it started firing.

Yeah, well I took a course, well took a course in identification.

But I had observation waiting for a plane.

When I thought far away I noticed it was in B-25.

And until when it got closer and closer,

we started taking a shirt off.

And the way we were on a shirt through the plane came down low

and I thought, well, they're going to wave at us.

We heard machine gun firing and two of us in one raft

and the pilots in the second raft last together.

And the bullet splinter, you know, between our legs and our arms

hits and the one bullet hit the pump on the second raft.

They ricocheted with the raft in half.

So then I just, we decided to jump in the water in the next path.
