0:03.4	I originally produced this story about the Ohio Earthworks back in June of 2021, and
0:09.7	since then, this story has continued to unfold.
0:13.5	You'll hear near the end of this episode that the case of the Ohio Earthworks made it
0:17.6	all the way to the Ohio Supreme Court.
0:20.1	And finally, a year and a half after hearing that case, the Supreme Court just announced
0:25.0	a decision here in December 2022.

0:43.1	Mount Builder's Country Club is a golf course in Newark, Ohio, about 45 minutes east of
0:48.8	Columbus.
0:50.4	As far as golf courses go, this one is pretty straightforward, except for one thing.
0:57.3	All around the course, there are these large mounds, six feet tall.
1:03.7	It's hard to tell what's going on with them from the ground, but if you were looking
1:07.6	down at them from the sky, you would see geometric perfection.
1:14.1	One mound is a perfect circle, and another is a gigantic octagon.
1:19.7	They run across 11 of the course's 18 holes.
1:23.8	The Mount Builder's Country Club was built here in 1910, but these mounds were built here
1:29.5	long before that.
1:31.4	They are line segments in a work of art built from the earth by an indigenous society dating
1:37.8	back to 100 BC.
