Summary

Gene and Chris present a full-scale discussion of a classic UFO encounter, the Cash-Landrum incident, which occurred on an isolated two-lane road near Houston, Texas on December 29, 1980. This sighting includes a witness who received possible severe radiation burns as the result of being in close proximity to the strange aircraft. To flesh out the nuts and bolts of the case, we invited two UFO investigators, Chris Lambright and Curt Collins (a guest cohost).

canadian really i mean that's a stupid conclusion to reach. But that was about it. I've obviously

0:56.3

known him for a few years. But it's interesting here about Ray Palmer and the fact that he is probably

where he took amazing stories and totally changed the way they approach science fiction.

So instead of being just something that was the province,

of a small number of fans, it became a mass market product.

1:30.1

And you think the kind of science fiction that he promoted, as I said last week,

came to be in movies such as Forbidden Planet in the 50s, Star Trek in the 60s, Star Wars in the 70s.

1:42.4

But in the science fiction field, Ray Palmer is a pariah. Isn't that sad?

1:49.0

Yeah, it is sad. I think you're right. He is an unsung hero to some. And he's also, I think we can

1:56.9

vilify him a little bit for creating that downward momentum of the snowball going down the

2:02.7

hill in terms of how people perceive what were then called flying saucers and how that pop

2:09.2

culture sort of veneer has slowly been building on the snowballs as it goes down the hill.

2:15.4

So in one sense, Ray Palmer kind of set the whole misperceptions of the phenomenon in the

2:22.3

public's eye.

2:23.5

I think he set that momentum going.
