From the very first time I went down to work in England full-time, probably the guy who was quickest to be warm,

quickest to seek me out was Harry Rednapp.

It was a coincidence because I'd always admired him. I'd been a fan of Ted McDougal,

Ted McDougal played at Bormuth, so I started to follow Harry Rednap, whose playing career I'd

been too young to know about, but I gradually understood that he fascinated me because he played amongst the elite.

He'd played in that West Ham side where Bobby Moore was still king, but there was class all

around him and he played on on West Hamside that was expected to be

England's Academy of Allegiance and football with Brio and football with beauty. It was supposed to be like the beating heart of
