Summary

Merry freakin’ everything! And how’s this for a holiday gift?! It’s the return of the Classic Album Clash, and for the first time ever, actual members of the band who made two said albums are taking part in the great debate! Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian and drummer Charlie Benante join CJ and Eddie Trunk to discuss “Spreading The Disease” and “Among The Living.” And yes, they actually pick favorite songs on the albums! They also share amazing behind-the-scenes stories about the making of both records, including working with super producer Eddie Kramer in the Bahamas, and what inspired the music videos for “Spreading The Disease” and “Madhouse” (which was banned from MTV). And Eddie Trunk who happened to work for Megaforce Records (Anthrax label at the time) has a unique perspective on watching the band’s success and popularity explode in the 80s. Might just be the best CAC EEEVVVEERRR!

Well, since you actually have the band members that wrote and recorded the record, since

0:59.2

anything we have to say is the 100% correct, not even an opinion, it's fact.

1:06.4

So really anything you already have to say about it doesn't matter regardless of whether

1:11.6

or not we agree.

1:12.6

Anyway, and I say is the actual fact of the matter.

1:19.1

By the way, there's an interesting twist on all of this, by the way, that I'd like to

1:23.8

go out there because although Chris's introduction of me is certainly accurate as being a radio

1:30.1

guy, there's more to it than that, right?

1:32.5

There's way, I have a way, way, way deeper connection to this particular era of anthrax

1:39.1

because I worked for the record label and management at the time these records were made.

1:43.4

And remember the creation of them.

1:46.2

So I'm coming at this from two different perspectives.

1:49.8

The label management side when the records are actually done and because I'm old as dirt,

1:55.8

I was doing radio back then too and I played these records.

1:59.4

So I'm wearing two hats today in this conversation.
