Summary
How can companies create a level playing field for applicants and employees from lower socio-economic backgrounds? Evan Davis and guests discuss the sometimes invisible barriers and assumptions which exclude some from getting jobs or getting promoted. Many believe that the job interview format tends to favour the social skills of those from the middle and upper middle classes. Diversity schemes help - but there are questions about whether they go far enough. Is this the final taboo when it comes to equality in employment?

| 0:50.5 | Why is that? I'm joined by three guests who have thought hard about this. And we'll start with Professor Lee Elliott Major from the University of Exeter and some facts, because Lee, you've done some research into class diversity in the Footsie 100. And what have you found? |

| 1:11.8 | How can we look at social class diversity as well as diversity in terms of ethnicity and gender? |
| 1:19.2 | And we did a survey of Futsi 100 companies. |
| 1:24.2 | And we just asked some very simple questions. |

| 1:28.5 | diversity inclusion strategy? Was data collected on socio-economic background of employees? |
| 1:35.6 | We found that there was only 12 out of the 100 Futsi companies that could make any sort of claim |
| 1:41.9 | to have sort of social class within its diversity efforts. |
