I want to dig into something that is an area that I've been asked about before and is an

idea that first was introduced by Richard Nixon when he was president of the United States.

Is that two generations ago?

More than two generations ago.

The idea was then called the negative income tax.

The idea was instead of having all the various welfare programs we have in the United States

and assistance programs that you would be eligible to receive money from the government just

for breathing that everybody would start the year with the negative income tax, which

meant that you would be given money by the government just for breathing.

And as you made money working at your job or whatever, you would go from the negative

income tax to neutral to paying income tax.

The concept today is back alive and it's been popular buzz with a lot of libertarian think

tanks.
