Every week for the next few months, I'll be sitting down with some of the world's most

creative and talented minds to give you some insights into what inspires and motivates

and hopefully we can take some of their learnings with us and apply them to our own lives.

Today's guest is the K-pop superstar CL, who released a debut solo album Alpha in 2021.

CL is a rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, style icon and dancer who has collaborated with some

of the biggest names in music and film, from Diplo and Skrillex to the Black Eyed Peas and even

John Malkovich. Alpha, which CL released last October under her own self-managed very

cherry label, marked her return to the global stage, blending genres like hip-hop, rap,

k-pop, electronic and R&B into one incredibly cohesive body of work.

So, as you guys know, I've been recording a lot of these interviews on the road

or with guests in different countries looking at each other over Zoom. But CL and I both

happened to be in London at the same time. She was over for a show and I was in the studio writing,

so she came to visit and we recorded this in the drum booth and it was very cozy.

And after that, I just kind of went back to writing. I carried on my studio session. It was kind of

it was perfect. It was my ideal day where I got to merge two things that I really love.

Anyway, back to the interview. I spoke to CL about her musical roots and what it took to make and

release Alpha after all this time. The birth of her alterie goes and much, much more,

including her must try South Korean delicacies and soul hotspots. So here we go at your service
