The next night I had been back in the precinct less than two minutes when I was called into the captain's office.

It was a brief meeting.

Jason Hawkins transferred him approved, as well as our new budget. Certain weapons, special

ammunition, had been placed in the armory. My request for flame throwers had been

denied. I was also told, in no uncertain terms, that if the captain caught me firing silver-plated bullets down range,

he'd chew me a new asshole.

The cost alone had almost given the police commissioner a heart attack.

Still, we've been given most of what we had requested, and I left the captain's office

or a little faith in the system restored.

Jason Hawking had already moved in, his desk in the opposite corner to my own.

Donna was also, thankfully, present, and I even managed to smile at her as I passed.
