I know it's been too long but we are working very hard here and working on a lot of different

things here at the National Pulse. It's Monday, May the 10th of the year of

all of 2020. Quick reminder for you all, a quick reminder for our Special in Studio

guest today, show you say guest host Natalie Winters. There is still a wall around the US

capital. I think we forget this now because you know some out of fencing was taken down a couple

of weeks ago. But there is still a wall around the US capital building proper. And if anything

it's getting more permanent. And as every sort of day goes on, Natalie, I find myself becoming

more and more of what I would once call a majority of what I would once call a boomer.

In the sense that I find myself quoting George Orwell all the time and posting 1984 memes and

talking about tyranny and genuinely contemplating the ramifications of civil war.

Which you know 10 years ago I laughed at people 10 years older than me for doing.

But I guess it's true, you know some of the tropes that I was raised with certainly that

seemed cringy at the time. Even some Reagan quotes freedom is only a generation away from extinction.

You know those things as you get older Natalie, I'll tell you Mike up here so you can come in on

this conversation. Those things only ever become more true. They only ever become more stark. They

only ever become more urgent. I've yet to feel at any point in my life, you know even even

pre to post Brexit that all things are going to get better now. You know it's always just become

that one step closer to you know oligarchical collectivism. And you think about our topic that

we're going to discuss today. You know would I don't know whether at what point in your life you

became politically aware. What was it? Probably 2016. 2016. Well see that's incredibly recent

and you probably felt quite good about that year. And I bet in 2016 you didn't think we'd be

sitting here in 2021 being faced with a Waldorf capital very different from a Waldorf salad
