0:06.2	And about two months ago, I got an email from a man called John, who works for a French river
0:11.9	cruise company, says he works with a lot of French enterprises, and happens to know a man called
0:17.1	Jean-Charles de Vogue very well. Now, if you're not familiar with that name,
0:22.5	Jean-Chal is the owner of the chateau de Voul-Eve-Comte. John wrote that he's a super nice guy,
0:28.5	speaks great English, and would be an interesting person for me to interview. Naturally, he
0:33.1	continues, you could also fulfill your bucket list item by getting to visit this chateau. I've already
0:38.5	contacted him and he would be more than happy to meet with you. Now everyone at home, this is my
0:42.8	favorite kind of email to receive from a listener who enjoys the show and has some kind of fantastic
0:50.4	contact, which is what happened here. The chateau vol du comte, as John wrote, was on my bucket
0:55.9	list. A few episodes back, I listed all the things I wanted to do in France, and this chateau
1:00.4	was high on my list. And I'm going to give you a little bit of the history of this chateau,
1:05.3	sort of like a stupid idiot's guide to this chateau, jean charl will get way more in depth and i think it's
1:13.9	important that you guys know what we're talking about before we get there so the really basic
1:17.9	version of it is 350 years ago a very rich man who was the finance minister built a very
1:24.7	fantastic chateau i said i'd dumb it it down, so I will. He got three people
1:28.9	who were exceptionally good in their fields to build the garden, to design the interior and to design
1:33.9	the chateau. They did such a good job, spent so much money on it. The King Louis XIV, got upset,
1:39.4	sent the owner to jail and essentially used it as a blueprint for Versailles. Now Versailles is the V word.
1:46.8	We're not going to be talking about that. We're going to be talking about the other V word,
1:50.0	Vaux. Vaux Le Vicomte. And that is where I drove out to, this very weak. To paint the picture,
1:56.9	it's about an hour out of Paris, southeast. I drove down there with Lena, who's almost, she's about nine months pregnant now.
