It says voting is a fundamental right and responsibility that is reserved for U.S. citizens.

Since day one, I have always supported protecting our elections from illegal voting

and ensuring only American citizens are voting in our elections.

Now, there's something called the Save Act, and the bill would require individuals to provide documents and proof of U.S. citizenship when they do register to vote in federal elections.

Now, this may shock you is not happening everywhere, but specifically the bill would prohibit states from accepting and processing an application to

register to vote in a federal election unless the applicant presents documentary proof

of U.S. citizenship.

And that specifies what documents are considered acceptable proof of citizenship,

such as identification that complies with the Real ID Act of 2005

that indicates citizenship.

The bill provides states from,

prohibits states from registering an individual to vote in federal elections

unless at the time the individual applies to individual to vote in federal elections unless at the time the individual

applies to register to vote that the individual provides documentary proof of U.S. citizenship

and requires states to establish an alternative process under which an applicant may submit
