It's the year 1990, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

A middle-aged man, Russell Johnson, books in appointment with a prominent lawyer.

You see, he felt he had been legally wronged and he wanted a professional opinion.

He sits across from the lawyer's desk and regales her a long, yet remarkable story

about how years prior he had joined a simple group in the hopes of improving his body and mind.

She listens to the story and she tells me that she thinks I was in a cult.

But it wouldn't listen because like, who thinks they're in a cult?

You know, if I was in a cult, I'd know I was in a cult, right?

You know, they'd be going around with a dome on my head or something.

And so I wanted that question answer.

And I actually go to the library and I check out the book,

combating cult mind control by Steve Asks.

And I read that book from cover to cover that night.

It was mind-opening that all of a sudden, like, I get this epiphany, all these things that

were happening the last two years of questioning were starting to be answered.

And as he continues his journey down Wake Up Call Lane,

he gets sent a VHS tape of an investigative news piece regarding this particular establishment.

So he pops the old tape into the good old VCR and presses play.
