We get a chance to interview right here on the Bakari Sellers podcast Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. It sounds good to

call him that. But before we get to Senator Schumer I wanted to talk a bit about

mayors. Specifically the unique challenges that mayors across the country are facing as violent crime surges

right at a time when demands for police accountability are at their highest.

Now why did I pick this out? Well in case you missed it,

Atlanta Mayor

Kishabollums announced this past week that she would not seek a second term.

That surprised everybody. And among the reasons that are believed to have led to a decision not to run for

re-election were both surges in violent crime in the recent announcement that one of the officers

involved in the killing of Rashard Brooks was going to be reinstated.

I tell people all the time.

There's no job other than maybe President of the United States

that's tougher than being a big city mayor
