I'm Barbara Bogave sitting in for Warren Allney, and this is To the Point from Public Radio International,

a daily look at the issues Americans care about most. Tens of thousands of unaccompanied children, many fleeing violence

and poverty in Central America, have been stopped at the U.S.-Mexican border since last year.

The surge has overwhelmed border officials and made Texas the hotspot for what some are calling

the worst immigration crisis in 30 years. However, far from

detention centers and Washington gridlock, schools, churches, and city halls across the country are not

only resisting, but also embracing large immigrant populations. We'll hear about conflict and

integration from the border towns to America's heartland. On today's talking point, the modern cockpit on cruise control, lessons from the Asiana crash.
