I recorded an interview with Christopher Nolan on The Dark Night Rises a few weeks ago.

And after the recent tragedy in Aurora at the theater was showing the movie, I wondered

what to do with this episode.

Chris has been kind enough to come on the treatment since his first film, following, was

We started the interview by talking about the way he uses time in his films.

Chris, so good to have you back.

Thanks for having me.

I find myself thinking about going back to following even,

just how crucial time has been in your movies

and not just the way time plays out in a film,

but the way you go from the character's perception of time

to real time in the film.

And that's a fascinating way to think about your filmmaking, isn't it?

I'm very interested in the subjectivity versus objectivity in movie storytelling.

And I think time is really one of the most peculiar and hard to hold on to subjective phenomena.

You know, our sense of time changes right throughout the day, throughout our lives.

I'm in my 40s now in time, it's accelerating massively fast, you know.
